The UBC Graduate School of Journalism invites students and the public to join us for the launch of professor Taylor Owen’s new book. This is a free public event.

The event takes place Thursday, April 30 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Make Studios, 257 East 7th Ave., Vancouver.

Dr. Taylor Owen’s newly released book  “Disruptive Power: The Crisis of the State in the Digital Age” (Oxford University Press) “analyzes the ways in which digital technologies will transform the major aspects of international relations over the next two decades, and challenges the core capacities of the state.”

Owen is an assistant professor of digital media and global affairs at the UBC School of Journalism and Liu Institute for Global Issues.

The evening will feature a discussion of the challenges facing nation states in an increasingly online world. UBC Journalism director Peter Klein will be moderating the discussion.

This event is free, light refreshments will be served, and copies of the book will be available for sale (cash only).
