Student wins Community Newspaper award

Amy Juschka (‘09) has won the Community Newspaper Award for her journalism on Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside. imageThe award honors the best community newspaper journalists in British Columbia.  Amy holds an undergraduate degree in Political Science and International Development from Wilfrid Laurier University and is currently a Master of Journalism candidate at the University of British Columbia’s School of Journalism. Her passion for social justice brought her to Megaphone Magazine, a non-profit magazine sold by homeless and low-income people, where she writes on social and political issues affecting people in the Downtown Eastside. She hopes to pursue a career in freelance feature writing on graduation.
